The sun is OUT. Welcome to the only state in which we can make the following invitation and not sound completely crazy:
Care to join us for a midnight run? OK, we admit that if we're up at midnight, we're more likely to fish or pick berries than to go for a run, but Alaskan summers offer some great running and walking events that can get even us out late. They are truly unique to this wonderful place we call home.
You don’t need a formal running event to enjoy the outdoors, though. With so much daylight, you can squeeze in a bike ride before work, a walk at lunch or a hike after leaving the office at night. Remember, almost anything you do that gets your heart pumping counts toward the National President’s Challenge. Those of you who are joining me in the national fitness competition have so many opportunities to add activity to each day. Now we just need to remember to keep logging in our minutes and hours on the President’s Challenge Web site.
